Chandeliers were originally candle holders hung from the ceiling

They use crystal glass cut into different shapes and angles

Use of crystals creates an effect that draws your attention as the light bounces off, even natural light in the daytime

There are many different types of crystal with different styles and cuts. There can also be a huge difference in price Some different types are Swarovski, Spectra, Turkish, and Egyptian/Moroccan crystal

A guide for choosing the right size

Should be scaled to the size of the table that it will be placed over. A rule of thumb is to take the table width and subtract 12 inches, this will give you the width needed

The size of room also needs to be considered
Room smaller than 10' x 10' - size should be 17'' to 20''
Room about 12' x 12' - size should be 26'' or 27''
Room about 14' x 14' - size should be 24'' to 36''

Fixture should hang about 30'' to 32'' from the surface of the table
